In addition to the more traditional styles of artistic nudes, and the occasional boudoir photography session, one of my favorite forms of photography is what I call “fantasy nudes.” These are typically composites, and as you might guess from the name, often contain fantastical elements, or ideas, including sometimes science-fiction themes. In fact, truth be told, I think it is, hands down, my favorite type of photography. It brings out the creative side of me in every step of the process. The featured image is one such photo.
Today, I’m going to write about a recently-done image for which I just won a first-place ribbon in the Geek Artistique show at the Sorensen Studio in Fresno.
This year’s Nudes in November, a part of the ArtHop™ experience at the Sorensen Studio in Fresno, California, was my third time participating in that juried exhibition. In fact, the 2013 Nudes in November was the first time I had entered a juried competition.
It therefore also constitutes my third Nudes in November win, and my eighth win across all juried competitions. (The only time I’ve ever entered a juried exhibition where I did not win anything at all was in Chris Sorensen’s birthday show a couple months ago, where (so far as I know) there were no awards other than “Best of Show,” which went, as expected, to a sculptor.) I have been remiss about blogging lately. A bit too busy with my law practice – which, at the moment, is how I fund my life – so unless and until I sell more prints on a regular basis, that’s just how it goes.
Anyway, some of you may know that last year, I won First Place in Photography during ArtHop™ at the Sorensen Studio’s “Nudes in November” 2013 show.
Since then, I have won other awards, as well. The latest of these – bringing me full circle for the year – is another win for “Nudes in November” 2014 show, which I present above, as the featured image of this post. [Read more…]
